February Hiatus

There's nothing like a hiatus or sabbatical to help clear your mind... and give your apartment a through cleaning...  and clean out closets.  You get the point.

At the beginning of February, I decided I need a rest from blogging.  Since February is a short month by a couple of days, I chose it as the perfect time to re-energize.   I took some time to read, watch some movies, haul away/clean up clutter, and just vegetate for a few weeks.

My first book hasn't reached the best-sellers lists, but I knew that from the beginning.  I have to admit the more I think about it, the less I care about making big.  I just want to write something that readers enjoy.  The real goal is to write.   During my blogging hiatus, I managed to put down 24,000 words on electronic paper.  This puts me at the half-way point.   Will I meet my end-of-summer-goal?   Barring an unforeseen events, yes, I will.  The editing should go smoother and the eventually launch onto Amazon will be easier... Now that I know what to expect.

I imagine the completion and publishing of my first book may be something like giving birth to a baby.  You waddle your way through nine months, reach a point you can't take it anymore, and finally (and painfully) push the kid out into the world.  However, it doesn't end there.  Now, you have to nurture it, show it to the world (think "baby pictures"), teach it how to stand, walk, then run on its own.  But no matter what anyone says, it's still your baby... your first born...  It will always be special.
